Our story
Why we started Parafin.
Parafin started with two of us, each with over a decade on opposite sides of the same workflow: real estate development and architecture. We watched the built world repeat itself for decades, learning the same lessons over and over while other industries compounded innovation. Parafin is what we built once the perspectives met.
Adam spent his career in real estate development, looking at 10 or 20 sites for every one that actually moved forward. Many more never got looked at at all. They got triaged on instinct, because architect-led feasibility cost weeks and thousands of dollars per site, and you can't spend that on every site that crosses your desk. The buildable deals he never put a number on were the ones that hurt most.
Brian was a pioneer in architectural technology, building bespoke software in-house at the country's largest firms. The industry never followed: he kept watching the same tools get rebuilt for every new project, never amortized. Architecture had become a commodity business with no incentive to invest in reusable infrastructure. The tools the built world needed never got built.
We started working together, and it clicked. It was simple: link generative design to how a developer actually thinks. Site, brand, budget, returns. Skip the back-and-forth. Get to a go/no-go decision in hours, algorithmically, instead of waiting weeks for an architect to draw something the developer then has to re-underwrite. We started with hotels because the strongest brands in real estate are here. We built it with them. Strong brands are the fastest path to adoption.
We both see where this is going. Technology compressed trading decades ago. Real estate development is next. Buildings constructed in weeks, designed in days, financed in minutes. Parafin is where we started, the feasibility layer where AI can already collapse weeks of work into hours. The rest of the value chain is coming. We'd rather drive what's coming than ride out an industry that hasn't moved in decades. Build it, adopt it early, or get lapped by the people who did.
